The Cruising Guide to Notre Dame Bay will be a tourism guide and a navigational aid for the marine traveler. The guide, containing approximately 212 pages, will be spiral bound and will be an indispensable tool for the tourist who wants to experience all that this huge bay has to offer to the
enthusiast. The printed guide will go hand in hand with the sailingnotredamebay.com web site. It is hoped to have the guide ready for purchase during the Spring of 2002.
The guide will essentially contain the basic information required by any marine visitor, Canadian or Foreigner, who wishes to travel the waters of Notre Dame Bay and feel confident about navigation, regulations, weather conditions and tourism options.
Its distinguishing feature will be the inclusion of aerial photographs of the approximately fifty communities that owe their existence to their natural harbours. In addition, there will be more than sixty photographs of prime anchorages in the many unsettled coves and inlets that are located throughout the whole expanse of this huge bay.
Superimposed on the aerial photographs will be the basic navigational route in the harbour or cove. Also highlighted will be navigational hazards, navigational aids, docking areas and preferred anchorages sites.
For the tourist who wishes a thorough itinerary in advance of his marine excursion, there will be essential information about services offered by each town as well as a list of places to visit, sites to explore as well as festivals and activities to make a stopover more enjoyable.
